It’s a done deal, Roy Oswalt is headed to Philadelphia. Details of the deal have been reported and Oswalt joins the Phillies who are climbing back in to the division race.

Pitching is back!

Matt Garza of the Tampa Bay Rays threw a no-hitter Monday night. That makes for the fifth no-hitter in baseball this year. We haven’t seen this trend in pitching since 1991, when 7 no-hitters were tossed in a season.
What’s more remarkable is that two of them were perfect games. Two perfect games haven’t been thrown in the same year since 1880.
This resurgence in pitching command poses the question:

I’ve seen a lot of articles out on the web about the dispute between the NFL owners (NFL) and the NFL players union (NFLPA) regarding negotiation of the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). The overwhelming theme with them all, they’re too complicated. Long time Yankees owner and iconic figure George Steinbrenner has passed away today. It has been reported that Steinbrenner suffered a massive heart attack in Tampa, FL where he resides. He was 80 years old. (more…)

Everyone knows that LeBron James decided to sign with the Miami Heat, joining Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to form a perceived superpower in the NBA capable of winning several championships. James’ made it painfully obvious on Thursday night with his one hour ESPN special, “The Decision”.
