Matt Garza of the Tampa Bay Rays threw a no-hitter Monday night. That makes for the fifth no-hitter in baseball this year. We haven’t seen this trend in pitching since 1991, when 7 no-hitters were tossed in a season.
What’s more remarkable is that two of them were perfect games. Two perfect games haven’t been thrown in the same year since 1880.
This resurgence in pitching command poses the question:
